What is the process of voluntarily terminating parental rights in Wisconsin? I found the forms on the Wisconsin court system website but I can't find anything on what the actual process of doing this is.

The parent with custody will be married for at least one year with that step parent wanting to adopt.

Beyond that, almost no court is gong to allow the rights to be given up.

And if they do, child support will still have to be paid. So there is really no reason to give something up that you just don't have to use.

Fr_Chuck's post more or less sums it up.

But just to play the devil's advocate: can you give us more specifics on your situation? Are you the party seeking to terminate your own rights or do you want the other parent to relinquish theirs? How old is the child? Has the father been established as the biological parent?
