    State taxes
    I have a question and was wondering if someone could give me an estimate on how much state tax I may owe come tax time. I have made 5,000 in wages this year and 3,000 in other income such as gambling. I live in the state of ky and claim 0 on my tax return and I am claimed as a dependent on my parents tax returns. I haven't had any state taxes withheld to date, any help would be appreciated as I couldn't find a decent state tax calculator.. thanks

    The math is a bit daunting, because your income covers four different tax rates; see link below:

    The Tax Foundation - State Individual Income Tax Rates, 2000-2009

    You WILL owe somewhere between $200 - $250.
