I have a male 112lb black lab dog, he is not over weight, just a big boy. He is a fantastic dog but he has excessive gas. So much so that sometimes he stinks up the entire house! He is on holistic non-grain dog food and has been for years. The only people food he gets is what he takes from the counter if we forget to put something away. His dog piles are sometimes large and thick but usually thin and about the size from a dog half his size. Are the two issues connected? What can I do to get rid of the gas? He is a total pack dog who NEEDS to be in the house, around the family and HAS to sleep with someone. The gas has gotten so bad, none of us want him in our room for the night. HELP!!

Darn, I forget the name of the product but my mom had the same problem with her Great Dane, she bought a special enzyme powder to add to his food, it helps with their digestion and lessens the smell of both gas and their stools.

I'll find out the name of the product in the next day or two and get back to you (my mom isn't home for a while)

Oh thank you so much! Although we are not entirely sure, we believe he is part Great Dane! That might have nothing to do with the problem but your help is appreciated none the less

Just Dahlia agrees: What about the poop size? That doesn't sound right

Could be a factor of him not having the best digestive system, again with my Moms Dane he always had runny or soft stools. I swear this power is like magic.

I just did a quick Google this isn't the exact product but it sounds like a close match... there are quite a few on the market

I found dogs on Hollistick diets usually have smaller poops. It's actually one of the selling points of the type of food. They say it supposed tomake them less smelly, but I found the opposite. Maybe the large and darker ones is from when he is getting his paws on the human food?
