    Chapped Lips and Inside Calluses
    I have developed a strange problem. My lips don't respond to using chap-stick. My gums in the front on the inside next to my lips (both top and bottom) seem callused. Furthermore, when I speak I am having trouble with spitting. At dinner one night it seemed like I was about ready to drool. I am 59, not 89. What could this be? I have used a bite-retainer (upper) and an orthodontia retainer for 20 years and never noticed anything like this until now.

    I think it best that you see your dentist. You want to rule out oral cancer.
