I recently went to the salon and asked for a chestnut brown.. well my hair turned out black (I started light brown). I called another salon to ask what they could do and they referred to something called a "soap cap" where they mix shampoo and bleach together to take the color out, and then put color over it. The receptionist said it wouldn't ruin my hair.

I am not sure whether I should get the soap cap or not? My hair is in fiarly good condition, however it is very fine and I am scared that if I go to the salon they will use bleach and it will ruin my hair.

Do you think I should just try to fade it myself using purell shampoo or dish soap? Or do you think I should just let the salon bleach it with the soap cap? I don't want to ruin my hair:confused:

If the "soap cap" contains hair bleach, and not just peroxide, it will lighten the color. Whether it will ruin your hair depends on how much damage the hair has already accumulated.

The hair will fade -- at least somewhat.
