    Hair extensions
About a week ago my cousin got hair extenstions glued on (for a pageant) and now her scalp is red and sore and itchy, What causes it?
Could it be the weight of the extensions?
She washed her hair today and rubbed very easy along the extenstions thinking this will help ease up the soreness.

Getting extensions using glue is not a good idea sometimes. They do itch a lot of depending on how long she kept them in. Your cousin would have been better off with getting it sew in which last longer and don't cause any damage like pulling out hair from the roots

If hair extensions are done too tightly, you will have a very sore scalp and irritated scalp. Also, added weight of the extension hair can cause sore scalp. If your cousin is experiencing scalp irritation, I recommend that she sees a dermatologist. The dermatologist will examine her scalp and prescribe a scalp treatment for her to use.

I am not a hair expert, but I think the extensions were applied either to close to the scalp or person applying them this not make sure the end of the extension was heated and closed properly leaving bits if hair poking through the glue wich rubbed up against scalp and irritated it (for fusion method). Human hair strand must be kept vertically close to scalp so after application, the person's hair along w/exts lays nice and flat but must also be applied 1/4 inch away from scalp so not to irritate it. If using bond and weave method, she probably got weave too close on scalp and not on hair. It also can't move if it is on the scalp. She could also be alergic to glue, or the human hair was pulled to tight with the extension hair, so it keeps pulling on the scalp. I had braids put in on an island vacation, and I actually got blisters in my hair from them pulling it so tight. Head hurt too. Very painful. If she can wait a few days for scalp to feel better then remove. If using an oily liquid, I would do a test patch so it does not burn her scalp before removal. Some removals are acetone, removes bonds great, but would sting open skin. Like I said I am not an expert, so heed advice with caution. Do a test patch first and be very gentle.

I have reasonably short hair, but I really miss having long hair, and I want to get extensions. I heard it's expensive, but I was thinking that if I bought the hair myself, I could, or have a friend, braid it in for me? I was just wondering how I go about this, and how long the extensions last.
