Is Eating Butter Bad for Dogs?
    Hi, All!

I'm house and dog sitting right now. Just fixed myself some hamburger with onions and mushrooms. Sauteed it all in a frying pan with butter.

Siberian husky named Princess, is the usual one to lick off the plates. There is about a table spoon of melted butter remaining.

Is it okay for her to lick this stuff up, please?

    Thanks!

I wouldn't make it a habit, but it won't hurt her.

The thing about butter is that it contains milk. Dogs are lactose intolerant, so she may get a bit of an upset tummy, but otherwise she'll be okay.

That small amount won't hurt her. :)

Just like people dogs can only have fat in moderation.

A tablespoon won't hurt, mine sometimes get a little bit of butter or even cream on my finger as a treat.

It has to be noted that large amounts of fat at once can cause pancreatitis in dogs, small amounts can also cause it but only if the dog has a predisposition to the disease.

I love it when my dogs get a special treat, they eat it all up and then both go and rub their faces on the rug... too cute :)

My dogs rub their faces on my bed. Darn pups. I have a grease stain that I cannot get our for the life of me.

Their favorite treat is cheese. Yes, cheese, full of milk. Bad Alty.

It's the only thing they'll do anything for.

They're slaves for the cheese. :)

    Took her about five seconds!

Just have to see what happens now...

    Thanks!

She'll be fine Clough. Honestly she will.

I'm sure she appreciates the treat.

If you bend down to her level I think you'll get tons of puppy kisses. :)

Puppy kisses with butter breath :D

Oh yeah mine love cheese too, but unfortunately they have learnt that they only get cheese when being given a tablet, they roll the cheese around in their mouth until they find the tablet and spit it out

Well, you do have a point there...

When I'm at my home, I much prefer my friends to be cat lovers!

Hmmm, If I come over for dinner I will promise to be nice to the cats ;)
I don't know much about cats, been allergic to them my whole life so have stay away from them... now that there are super duper hay fever tablets on the market I should be OK.

I have friends who do come over that are allegic to cats, but love them none-the-less. They do take the medications that help with that!

    Thanks!

My hubby is uber allergic to cats, but he loves them, can't keep his hands off them. He always pets, kisses, cuddles them, then he goes home with swollen eyes, wheezing and not at all happy.

    He can't be taught.

The kids are allergic too and have the same problem that hubby has. ;)
