The compressor clicks but won't turn on.
My Bryant a/c is 5 years old. I've had problems in the last year. A few months ago, I was told that oil was seeping back into the compressor and they fixed it. Now 4 months later, the air handler fan is on, but the compressor won't come on. When I turn it off and on again at the breaker I hear it clicking but it won't turn over. Please advise. Thanks

Could be a bad start capacitor. Is the outdoor fan running?

I would start with the capacitor, then maybe a hard start boost for the compressor, if not already installed. Has the outdoor fan motor been changed before?

Does the top of the capacitor appear swollen, or "domed"? If so, it has failed.

I can't recall if the fan was changed out, but I do think that the capacitor was changed out
The time before the problem with the oil.

It may again be the problem, expecally if it was replaced with a big motor mate capacitor.

I haven't removed the cover as it is dark out, but I can check it out in the morning.
