    Collection calls
I have several debt collectors calling me daily. Some leave messages and some don't, I don't respond. Should I be answering these calls?

Actually, if you want the calls to stop, then when they do call, answer them and advise them that you want written verification of the alleged debts. And instruct them that they are not to call you any more but to communicate with you only in writing.

The worst thing you can do is ignore them. You need to try and work something out if you can. If you make a sincere effort to try to work with them, they wll help you do so. If you ignore them you are labelled as a deadbeat.

The answer really depends upon if you owe them money and how much money it is. If you don't speak with them or contact them, they are likely to take legal action. For them, legal action would be very easy because they would assume that you're not willing to speak with them to make some kind of payment arrangement. It can get ugly. Sometimes, they will leave messages and sometimes they won't. It's a little strategy to try to catch people off guard. If you want the calls to stop, then you will need to speak with them about payment or you'll have to think about bankruptcy. If you do nothing at all, then chances are the situation will get worse.
