    Water softening
I hear all kinds of conflicting information on "electronic water softeners". A coil or field of magnets and signals ionize the water from exterior of piping. Do these plug in systems really work. Priced from $79 up to $1000. Is it snake oil or not!

I am always a bit surprised that companies can advertise things they know do not really work like they say. Reading the fine print HardnessMaster Electronic Water Conditioner/Softener some of these do not really claim to make soft water but keep the minerals in solution so they don't build up on pipe.
