Is Papaya or black soap alone enough?
Hello everyone. I'm new to this site after doing a week's worth of lurking. I've been interested in lightening my skin due to getting darker this past summer. I'm not wanting anything drastic-one shade lighter would be fine for me.
I was doing a lot of searches on the papaya soaps and it seems that the DS soap is the best papaya soap to obtain for lighter skin. I'm not to sure what my results would be with black soap. Something I didn't find in my subject search was a consensus on whether the soap alone would achieve the results I'm looking for.
So I would like to know-if I get DS papaya soap or Likas (or black soap- I'm not sure on what the black soap would do) would that be enough for me to lighten 1 shade-possibly 2?
Thanks

Welcome blkini84. What is your current shade and your ethnicity? I have heard that DS papaya kojic soap and Likas papaya soap may lighten Asian skin some. I'm not Asian and neither lightens me, but helps exfoliate well so when I do use a skin lightener it absorbs better. You will need a good sun block with spf 60 or higher (I prefer Neutrogena, but there are others). If you only want to lighten 1 shade, you can try one of the skin lighteners that others are using up here with success.

Thank you so much for answering. I'm black, my skin tone is like a darker caramel brown-maybe like whitney houston. I was looking to lighten face/neck, and my arms.
I'm not interested in hydroquinone. What skin lightener do you use?

If it is due to tanning then maybe think about a skin peel, as well, to help with the tan removal and overall skin brightening.
I believe Golden_Girl is currently using Hydroquinone and tretonin.

You may want to try the natural skin whitening products if just the soap alone doesn't work for you. Here are some popular ones:
Makari
Tonique
Fair and Flawless
Meladerm
There are tons more too if you search you just have to try different ones and see which one works best for you but, lightening one tone shouldn't be hard at all.

In my opinion, if you are avoiding HQ, then other fairly good lighteners are makari, but be careful of skin breakouts, especially if your skin is acne prone. I also like Fair & Flawless, but it is not cheap and the results are not always consistent. I have heard that tonique is yielding good results on another forum and the ingredients are similar to fair & flawless, but the price is slightly cheaper.
I am sure that other members may be able to suggest other products as well, if you are looking for something cheaper.

Thanks for all the responses. I haven't heard of tonique so I will look it up. I thought about a skin peel but wasn't sure it would lighten the skin.
Thanks

Skin peel may help lighten your tan, but it will help you to lighten more quickly when using a good skin lightener. For me, Meladerm isn't worth it for the price since so many have had very minimal to no results.
Lol... yeah, I don't think you want to use what I'm using.

I want to know what is the best papaya soap whether it's sold in the Philippines, elsewhere or in the Internet.
I don't want to try kojic acid soaps or arbutin kasi they have side-effects daw eh and they're too harsh na it's not advisable to use sa face.
Please let me know.
Thanks.. :)
