Storing a fridge and freezer

I will be putting my fridge and freezer into a climate controlled storage unit. I know that the doors should be left open slightly, but, if I shut them off before moving do I need to keep doors ajar .

We took it apart and defrosted all the coils and it worked great for a week then the same thing happened again. I also replaced the gasket this week could it be from over stuffing or maybe the frost free is not working?
