    When should I date?
In my house, the age allowes to date is 14. I'm 11 right now, and I think I should be allowed to date as long as I don't kiss and we go out on group dates. This really hot guy asked me out, and I don't know if I should ask my parents and tell them what I just said, or tell the guy no. What do you guys think?

Be straightforward and tell the guy you aren't allowed to date. Tell him you will ask your parents if group dates are okay. In my experience, group dates don't prohibit kissing, especially in a theater. You are only 11, and I take it the boy is 11 as well. You should not have a problem with theater kissing until you are at least 14, which turns out to be the age your parents will allow you to date.

Fourteen is a good age to start one on one dating. Before that "dating" should be confined to group dating which is really just hanging out.

At 11 you really shouldn't be thinking in terms of "hot" guys. Our society is forcing children to grow up too soon, enjoy your childhood while you still have it.

I notice you don't say how old this "hot" guy is, but if he is 13 or older stay away.

Finally, yes you should tell your parents everything. If they find you sneaking around behind their backs they will lose trust in you and it may be even longer before they allow you really date.

As an aside I removed your answer in another thread since that thread was over 2 years old. Please check the dates before you post an answer. But I wanted to comment on one thing you said. Going through or completing puberty is not an indication of maturity.

I think your parents are being generous letting you date at 14.

You mention that it's the rule in the house. There must be a reason. You might sit down and talk to them about it. If they see that you are willing to talk about it and act like an adult, they might be more willing to treat you like one.

Maturity is a matter of action, not age. Your parents are old enough to understand and respect that in you. Show them you are mature... the results might get you closer to where you want to be.

Invoice Date or Actual Date [ 2 Answers ]
