Been living in this apt for over a year but never needed to use wall jacks for my vonage phone for it was through my cox internet service. Now that I set up a hone service which requires using my wall jacks, I have no dial tone when phones are plugged up to any of my inside jacks. Don't have money to call a tech. Any suggestions?

First, is "hone" service, DSL?

Did you get a dry DSL line with VOIP?

Is this phone line supposed to be normal telephone and DSL?

DO you know where your NID is (usually outside the house), and do you get dial tone when you use the test jacks? There could be more than one line in the NID and there will be multiple test jacks. Generally you remove the jumper and inser a known good phone.

If you cannot obtain a dial tone there and your supposed to have dial tone, then contact the phone company.

Haven't deatl with Vonage for Many years, I may be confused, If Vonage is a box hooked up to your Coax and has a jack for phone, (No actual Pair from the Telco Company), then You should be able to disconnect line from outside of the house(Seperate inside lines from Telephone Company), Plug into wall, and inside lines should be connected.
I don't currently know thwe maximum number of phones that can be on the line?
Although I am answering, I am also asking as well as to how it currently works.

If Vonage (thinks it's a jack?) and you plugged it into a wall jack with a normal cord with a twist, wouldn't you get a polarity reversal?

Mot of the VoIP things, I think, only accept about 3 REN's. A house phone, about 5. That just affects ringing.

Polarity reversal usually affects the ability to touch tone on phones that don't plug into a power source.
