    penalty for first time shoplifting
    I was caught by wal-mart for 31.45 retail value shoplifting in South Carolina. This is the first time, and I was put in the jail for one night. Now I received letter from local court for the incoming trail. What is the possible penalty for this? Thank you.

    Talk to a criminal lawyer from South Carolina or research it using Google or other similar search engine. First offense misdemeanor shoplifting in South Carolina ; you want to know the prescribed penalty.
