    Shick Shack
    Does anyone know what the Potawatomi chief, Shick Shack means? Is is anything like the Mayan: XIK XAK?

    No nothing to do with Mayan. Purely the Potawatomi people around the Illinois river.That was his name, Shick Shack.

    Another forum (member) said that SHAK meant 9 in Pottawatomi. From Mark Rosenfelder's Metaverse numbers 1 to 10 in many, many languages. Still looking at XIK in Quiche, Yucatec and Nauhatl for clues, so far hawk, feather, spy(scout), mixture (blood) chic the prefix to numbers 6,7,8,9. Probably I am too far south for this chiefs name;) Then again Mayan personal names have a number and a day sign,i.e. 9 Reed.
