Caught shoplifting $30 of make up
I'm 19 and was caught shoplifting $30 of make up in Rite Aid by an undercover cop. He took all my information and I believe made a call to the police with my information. He told me I'd be receiving a fine from Rite Aid and a court date in the mail.

I had a few questions about this:

    1. I have a clean record and was wondering if this would go on it?

    2. How long will it take to receive the fine? And also the court date papers?

    3. What will most likely happen in court?

    4. Is there a chance I might not have to go to court if I just pay the fine even though he said I would?

    Where did this happen.
And no, normally if they call the police , they show up at the store and get your information first hand, not second hand over the phone from store security.

Most likely all that will happen is you will get a letter from the store asking for payment of a few hundred dollars and that will be the end of it.

If you get anything from the police in the mail, talk to an attorney before you make any statements or sign any paper work.

    I live in Washington.

I think he was a cop and not just security but I'm not really sure.
Oh OK, that's good to know.

Do you know how long it will take to get anything in the mail about it?

While it is hard to guess, normally if you have not gotten anything within 6 weeks you should be safe
