    Employment and labor
Ive been on my job for aalmost 5years. At this time I'm in my second week of sick leave. Provided dr's note. The director at my job has a personal issue and has mad emy life help since she started with us a year ago. I feel like she holding a grudge because of an argument we had over the phone while she was working at the other office. Basically I been in and out the hosp with high bld pressure and anxiety and panic attacks. I have email all my superiors on this situation and they never help me solve it of course they have a personal relationship with the director. Now I learned that they are waiti8ing for me to come in to terminate me. Is this legal? What can I do?

Unless you have a contract or a unless you are a union member, most of us are "at will" employees and they can fire us at any time for any reason, as long as it is not for a protected class.

How many approved sick days did you have, if you used more than the approved days and had to be off for an extended amount of time, did you use the Federal leave ( unpaid but allowed for sickness)

But once you are released they could fire you.

I agreewith Fr_chuck, we are most "at will" employees, however there is a FMLA. Family medical leave act. Not sure of all the legal aspects of the act but sure wouldn't hurt to research it. I would Google the FMLA act see what you find. Can' t hurt.
