I have researched what to do about the "cutback adhesive" residue left after removing some old VCT. I was wondering if I could (in avoidance of removing the stuff, which just sounds terrible) either install backer board then tile of even padding then carpet? Would one be better than the other or...
Tile floor or wall first

Hey, I am ready to tile my new shower. I allresdy installed the pan and the hardie backer. Every thing has cured. I am using 1/2 tile (in 12x12 sheets) on floor and 9x13 on the walls. Should I tile the floor or walls first?:confused: Lee

I have heard of some people say that when hanging tile on walls that youuse ceramic tile adhesive instead of thinset mortar. But they say go ahead use thin set on the floor. Does anyone know if it is better to use adhesive on walls??

I keep reading that I should use a "waterproof membrane" for my bathroom floor (which has a tub/shower). But they never mention what could constitute a "waterproof membrane". What can I use for this?
