Removing a plug from waste pipe
I need to remove a 2"pipe thread plug from a piece of 4" cast waste pipe in my cellar. The plug has a hex head on it, between 1 1/2" and 1 5/8". My 1 1/2" socket slips off and I can't keep a pipe whench on it! The hex head seems to be tapered! How can I remove this plug without risking breaking the pipe? Thank you.

When I'm faced with this problem I load the threads up with WD-40 and then I take a 14" pipe wrench and pout it on the lug asnd smack it with a hammer. This acts like a impact wrench and will break the plug koose. Good luck, Tom
