Me and my boyfriend have been together for four months and enjoy a healthy sex life.
The trouble is you see I just cannot seem to get the hang of being on top. I can't build a good rhythm and the movements are stunted and awkward and as a result we usually end up switching positions.

I know a lot of women enjoy this position most, and I don't want my boyfriend feeling like he has to do all the work all the time. I was wondering if anybody had any tips?

Relax? You may feel self conscious in this position, many women do.

Your BF probably still has to help you create the movements, so he may have to do some of the work. Get into a comfortable position and try moving according to what feels good - up and down, or just really small circular movements, get your Bf to mimic the movements gently also.

Try and FEEL what's happening and get into the sensation rather than getting into a specific rhythm.

You are describing one aspect of an issue normally attributed to males: performance anxiety.

You're worried too much about the mechanics. Once you're joined, it likely won't matter to him if you guys just stay like that all night or even all weekend.

Gemini's right. Do what feels good to you, speaking as a guy I'll bet money it feels good to him too.

Try asking him not too move.

Start slowly,with him in a sitting position.

Again start slowly,him not moving and slowly find your own pace.

Being face to face to help you make eye contact and increase intimacy,don't worry about what he is thinking,only on the slow movement.

Slow gently movement.

Music on in the background may help you find a rhythm.

This may be crude, but this is a good example where pornography, specifically videos, would be a helpful as an educational guide.

Another option is to get him to lay down flat on his back and you straddle him but hover slightly above him (with him inside you)
Then get him to do the motions... If he 'bounces' against you each time then it can help you find a good rhythm.
Once you have gotten into a good rhythm that way you can try getting him to stay still and you do the movements.

I do think the problem, if you can even call it that is in my head - my anxieties. I know he loves me and loves being with me.. . and hey I don't think he'll object to practicing.
