    Beautiful, splashy, non-functional faucet
We are remodeling all bathrooms and kitchen. I bought a georgeous modern faucet online. Loved the look so much I bought four! Installed first one, and it literally splashes all over the mirror, counter, faucet and basin.

Admittedly, it is over a shallow vessel sink, but I am certain that is not the problem. The drop from the spout to sink is 7.5 inches. Our new kitchen faucet/sink has a drop of 18 inches and no splashing whatsoever. I'm pretty certain the problem is the fact that there is no aerator on the faucet. I called the distributor, and he said none was available for this faucet. Likely this is because it is a rectangular spout, about 1" x 1/4".

I can return the faucets (I have to pay return postage), but I was wondering if I could solve this problem by stuffing some aluminum screen material up the spout (maybe with a dab of glue, if it works?), thus creating an aerator of sorts. We have turned the valves down to just a trickle, but it STILL splashes everywhere! I guess we would have a problem cleaning the "aerator", but we really have never had to clean our old ones in 12 years.

    Anyone have any suggestions?

Well, I tried to paste a pic, but no luck. It is an overseas, likely chinese inexpensive faucet. Single handle, single hole, tall, arching candy-cane shape. The spout is like a piece of square tubing, but rectangular, approx. 1" x 1/4", very minimalistic, modern. Control is on the side of the base.

Oh, and I found the brand. It is called American Steampro. But nothing American about it... all the diagrams in metric, and instructions obviously not written by a native English speaker. Let me know what you think about the aluminum mesh idea. I just have a few days to remove it and return all four for a refund. I might try to get some mesh today to try.

I have found nothing but complaints ob this company and their faucets on the net. Your faucet should gave come with a aerator on the spout. Are there inside threads on the spout?
If not you're going to have splatter. Good luck, Tom

No threads - the spout is rectangular, not round, so nothing could thread on/in it. Any thoughts on my aluminum screen mesh idea? I will return the faucets if no one thinks it will work. Boo hoo.

Do not do business with this company, I can not even get them on the phone and they never sent me a confirmation of the order for two faucets I placed on-line...
... the phone number they have listed with Pay Pal just gets one of those generic synthesized voice answering machine messages-so they are not even a legitimate company

    Buyer beware!

By janis j. 2 American Steampro
We bought an expensive faucet from steampro and paid to have it rush delivered as we were in a hurry to finish our bathroom, and it was the last item needed. It came next day, but does not have all the parts necessary to install. We are lucky our plumber noticed the pieces would leak before it was completely installed, but not before we cut a huge hole in our wall to install the out of wall faucet. We are now trying to contact the company but have been unsuccessful in our attempts, only reaching a voicemail, and one disconnected number. We had to purchase one elsewhere today, and are currently out hundreds on this useless faucet.

    American Steampro poor customer service

By Connie M. 1 American Steampro
I too bought an expensive shower fixture that was shipped without a major piece. We photoed it and they sent the piece quickly LAST summer.. we finally got the house up and installed all the fixtures and wouldn't you know the shower diverter doesn't work. They say that the order is too old for them to send a replacement even though it was in its box until we could get to building that part of the house.. we were building as we could manage it and yes it took time to get the plumbing in, but we bought in good faith and deserve a working unit. I would not buy from them again... we used EBay and EBay will be learning about this soon!

    Poor customer service and products

By debbie s. 1 American Steampro
I bought an expensive faucet from this company, which they shipped without needed washers. When my plumber installed it there was water all under my vanity. It could not be used.Even though I emailed this company it took 2 weeks and 2 (supposed) tries to get me the washers I needed to install the faucet.(was supposed to be included) My plumbing bill was excessive due to the installation, then another house call to uninstall then reinstall the faucet. My family had to use the kitchen sink for all personal hygiene for 2 weeks. Don't buy from this company, spend your money elsewhere and get quality and service. You won't find it here.

Thanks so much. I did read these online when you mentioned them before. I was able to get a call from them, and a refund promise, but I am scared to send the faucets back, because I might not get my money. We knew we were buying inexpensive faucets, because we will be moving in 2 years. We have no leaks, no missing parts, just splash, and I don't want to call a plumber again to uninstall, reinstall, and also pay the return shipping. So I'd really like to try to aereate the flow. Any suggestions?

I would contact the company and ask if they have some sort of a threaded adapter that will fit on the spout. My bet is that you're out of luck. Sorry, Tom

Oh, I forgot to mention that I did that already - no way to get an aerator on it except my wad of screen material idea. I guess I'll try it, can't hurt.

Unfortunately, faucets without aerator will splash all over.

Indeed, some foreign made faucets do not come with aerator and it is almost impossible modify such a faucet to accept one. You could reduce water flow a bit ( close angle stop 1/2 way ) and see if that helps - or just you will have to live with it. Sorry...
