    Cranberry Sauce Substitutes
I am preparing Thanksgiving dinner for the first time this year. However, the majority of my guests do not care for cranberry sauce. I'm looking for alternatives (possibly fruity ones) that will go well with dinner. Although I am somewhat of a novice, I would still try anything!

Fresh cranberries are a great substitution to the canned cranberry sauce. Purchase a bag of fresh cranberries and follow the recipe on the bag. For added flavor a can of mandarin oranges is great!

Try dark cherry or berry or a mixture or maybe a chunky apple sauce mixed with blackberries.

Had to spread the rep j_9, but I think adding mandarins to my cranberry sauce is going to be a must try! Sounds yummy!

I thought I hated cranberry sauce too until I learned to make my own from fresh cranberries (like j_9 suggested). It's so much better than anything canned. I still hate canned cranberries but I'll eat homemade all day long. It's kind of fun to make too. I like watching the berries burst. Hehe :)

My kids LOVE to make the cranberries!! I can't stand the canned stuff... despise it, but will eat my fill of the fresh stuff.

    HI,
Perhaps your guests do not like cranberry sauce because they've only had it from a can? Anyway, we've always made it homemade with nuts, other dried fruit pieces and cognac :p

I found a site with some interesting ideas for you.

One time on thanksgiving I had blackberry jam and it tasted really good. It might taste even better if you microwave it.
