The jews had said that what Jesus did was by the power of Satan. By doing this, they cut themselves off completely from the Holy Ghost, who is the ONLY one who can draw us to Christ.

Thus the sin is unpardonable, the sinner having severed any connection with God.

The very fact that you are troubled enough to post here looking for hope is proof that God has not turned His back on you, and apparently, you have not turned your back on Him.

And Summer7, I have been very encouraged by your posts, even approached a church Sunday night (did'nt actually go in though). But I think that's progress since I haven't stepped foot inside a church for several years.

Which question are you referring too? I will be attending Bible study this Sunday to learn more. I just remember bits and pieces.

I haven't been to church in a long time either. I have really enjoyed having Jesus in my life. I look back on the "old days" and I just can't believe how far I've come! It truly is amazing!! The joy and peace alone are so worth it.

This church I found kind of caters to teens and twenty something's so I am looking forward to all the cool stuff there is to do. Plenty of fun activities and of course opportunities to serve and make a difference.

Hey man listen. You are fine trust me, and trust God. Just recently I thought I had done the same. But God has revealed to me that "the blasphemy of the Holy Spirit" is way more than cursing the Holy Spirit. First of all the word "Blasphemy" in the greek means, "injurious speaking" which means to hinder through speech. This has NOTHING to do with anger towards God. Also in Matthew 12 it says "whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit" it has become clear that "speaks against" means to speak as an enemy of. NOT TO CURSE.
The pharisees blasphemed the Spirit, because they knew that Jesus was God and that He was casting out demons by the power of the Holy Spirit, and yet they straight up lied saying, "He is casting out demons by the prince of demons." in order to steer people away from Christ and bring glory to themselves. They were essentially choosing to take side with satan! Jesus later says that the pharisees were children of satan himself. This kind of sin will never be repented of or even worried about. The Bible says that repentance is a gift from God. It also says in Romans 8:1 that "There is now no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus." Furthermore, Romans 8:38-39 says, "38 For I am convinced that neither DEATH NOR LIFE, neither angels nor DEMONS, neither the PRESENT NOR FUTURE, nor ANY POWERS, 39neither height nor depth, nor ANYTHING ELSE IN ALL CREATION, will be able to separate us from the love of God THAT IS IN CHRIST JESUS OUR LORD. and in conclusion John 10: 27-30 says, "27 My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. 28 I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; NO ONE CAN SNATCH THEM OUT OF MY HAND. 29 My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; NO ONE CAN SNATCH THEM OUT OF MY FATHERS HAND. 30 I and the Father are one."

So, please don't let satan torment you anymore. He will try to twist the scripture I have shown you, but trust in Christ.

I will pray for you. Dear Lord, I pray for my brother/sister in Christ. That they would place their trust in you. Do not let satan torment them any long Lord, but let them be released from their torment and condemnation, and show them that you love them more than the sun. In Jesus Christ name I pray... amen.

Of the three persons in God, the Holy Spirit is the guide and inspirer.
He has been referred to as the giver of life.
One of the main places to experience God in His trinity is in one of the many houses, castles, or cathedrals build by his followers out of love for him and other followers.
Those many churches are for the lovers of God in which to worship Him and converse with others.
It is also one place where we can harvest the fruit others provide and to provide our fruit for others to harvest.
So do go to Church.
Much of the grace of God is available there.

Using the Bible as your guide, you should "shop" for a church. Choose one that is the closest to the one described in the Book of Acts, and also consider what Jesus said to the 7 churches. (Rev. chapters 1,2, &3.)

I'm so glad you are giving church another try. Sometimes it takes awhile to find the right fit. I can imagine how you must feel going back. You know, I remember a message I heard from Joyce Meyer. She said that, "sometimes God just wants us to hang on the vine." She mentioned how sometimes people in church are in such a frenzy to serve and help. Often times these people could use a little help and nurturing themselves. There's nothing wrong with going to church and just checking it out and enjoying yourself. No need to stress... just ask the Holy Spirit where you need to be. He might just want you hanging on the vine for awhile getting fed and nurtured. God is peace... just be at peace and know that He is with you to guide you.

As I understand it we are the vine and Jesus is the branches.
The vine is to produce the fruit for others to harvest.
So you quoting that made me think again about that.
A different thought came along with that and it is that we should not produce sour grapes.

Yes Churches where property is held in common and there is distribution to each according to their need, where the leadership withdraw to pray and not prey is very rare. It is even rare to find Churches where there is body ministry and each person is regarded as a competent minister, where there are miracles.

Hi, My question is in regards to Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit. I am a practicing christian (But haven't attended church for several years). In a fit of anger I Blasphemed against the Holy spirit by sayiny ''F#!& Off Holy Spirit. I have read many articles since then and they all point to one thing, That I cannot be forgiven for this! Am I eternally lost to hell?
This is a serious question, I am very distraught over this. please help me with honest biblically accurate answers. Much appreciated.

As I understand, you are really asking two questions:

1. Does your insulting of the Holy Spirit, in a fit of anger, qualify as the Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit which Jesus said would not be forgiven?

2. Can you be forgiven for insulting the Holy Spirit thus?

First a little background

I understand that there are six Sins or Blasphemies of the Holy Spirit. What are they?

1. despair,
2. presumption,
3. impenitence or a fixed determination not to repent,
4. obstinacy,
5 resisting the known truth, or calling that which is holy, unholy
6. and envy

Examples from Scripture are

despair:
Matthew 27 3Then Judas, which had betrayed him, when he saw that he was condemned, repented himself, and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders,
4Saying, I have sinned in that I have betrayed the innocent blood. And they said, What is that to us? See thou to that. 5And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departed, and went and hanged himself.

You see, Judas, having already repented, should have thrown himself upon God's mercy. But instead, he despaired and hung himself.

Presumption
Matthew 7:20Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. 21Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. 22Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? Note how these folks PRESUMED they were saved. But Christ is our Judge. Therefore Scripture also says:
1 Corinthians 4:5
Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts: and then shall every man have praise of God.

Impenitence
Exodus 8:15
But when Pharaoh saw that there was respite, he hardened his heart, and hearkened not unto them; as the LORD had said.

Pharaoh would not repent of his ways.

Obstinacy,

Obstinacy and impenitence are essentially the same thing. The slightest difference is that obstinacy is the refusal to move from one's sinful position:
Romans 2
5But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God; 6Who will render to every man according to his deeds: 7To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life:
8But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath,

resisting the known truth, calling that which is holy, unholy

The Jews refused to acknowledge the truth. That Jesus had healed by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Envy of the Holy Spirit is not the same as envy of one's neighbor. It is trying to gainsay, or justify oneself. Contradicting the Word of God with the word of man.

Acts 13
45But when the Jews saw the multitudes, they were filled with envy, and spake against those things which were spoken by Paul, contradicting and blaspheming. 46Then Paul and Barnabas waxed bold, and said, It was necessary that the word of God should first have been spoken to you: but seeing ye put it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, lo, we turn to the Gentiles.

So, to answer your question:

So, where does your sin fall in these categories?

It doesn't seem to. As I understand your statement, it reminds me of fellows with which I work. One of them, hearing me preach against their sinful ways said to me, "My friend, I know you are right. And I should change, but I am having too much fun."

This man, if he remains in his sinful ways all his life, will commit the sin of "final impenitence" #3 above.

If he never asks God for forgiveness, he won't receive it.

At the time that you made the insult, you wanted no part of the Holy Spirit, for whatever reason. But now you have repented of that sin.

2. Can you be forgiven for insulting the Holy Spirit thus?

At this point in your life, you have come close to despairing of God's mercy, that is sin #1 above. But that sin is only unpardonable if you don't give God the opportunity to pardon you by asking His forgiveness.

Anyway, this is how I understand the Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit. I hope that it helps.
