Thermostat in duct work instead of control system?
Is it cheaper to put thermostats in the duct work of Office HVAC units instead of having expensive complicated systems other companies have to maintain like NOVAR to control temp?

I understand it's a wire in the intake duct that senses the air temperature.

We have 25 old ( ! ) Rooftop units. 7 control our Data Center Temps. The other 17 are for office cooling.

Can't we set the thermostats to something like... 74 (I live in Phoenix there is no winter) except for the ducts that go to the data centers that need to be set slightly lower (72) ?

One of the purposes of a Building Automation system is to save energy. Another, believe it or not, is by having the proper temperature/humidity/comfort level productivity can dramatically increase.

You really need to control the space.
