Multi stage furnace and A/C or not?
I want to replace a grossly inaccuate thermostat (ITT w/ 2 separate dials) and the wiring coming to the thermostat has 6 wires; green connected to (G), black connected to W1, blue to RC, red to RH, yellow to Y1, and white to Y2. Is this a multi stage issue?
The Programmable electronic one I purchased from ACE HDWR shows 5 wire config. not a six.

    Please give advice!

Well it looks like there is 2 stages of cooling from the Y1 and Y2. What equipment do you have? BTW your color code is off.

Single or multi-stage heating/cooling unit [ 1 Answers ]

How can one tell if the heating/AC system in a home is a single stage or multi-stage? My system is 2 zones. (upstairs & downstairs) with separate thermostats for each. But there is only a single gas furnace and a single AC unit. So does that mean it is a single stage system?

Hvac1000: Or ing stage relays (multi-stage stats to single stage) [ 1 Answers ]

Would you agree that you can and should OR the outputs of say a 2 stage heating stat to make it a single stage? OR means connect the outputs together. Example: Connect W and W2 to create a single stage stat. I'm under the impression that either W1 or W2 is activated and not both and that this...
