    Jug Puppy Crying
    I just brought my 8 week old jug (jack russell/pug mix) puppy home. I have her in an open crate with her bed, toys and have a gate sectioning off the area. She wakes up every two hours and cries and howls. She gets back into the crate and lays down, but cries when I walk away. Help!

    You have to remember, she is strange to the area, strange to you. She doesn't know you and needs so. She is just a baby after all and needs some TLC and cuddling. She will settle down once she is familiar and tremendously in love with you.

    Too cute.

    Tick gave you great advice, I just want to add that she's also been taken away from her mom and her litter mates, it can be a bit traumatic to a puppy.

    There are puppy toys that make noise like a heart beat. They can often settle a pup down. Your pup is used to sleeping in a group, feeling the warmth of other dogs and hearing their hearts beat.

    This idea made me think of a small ticking clock in a playpen for a little pup once upon a time. It worked, probably because it sounded like a heart beat to the baby.

    What a lovely little thing ! Pug colours, but I can't see the Jack Russel. Maybe when she is older she will look like both. How could you not want to cuddle this little thing !

    Here's a link to the toy I was talking about;

    The best thing, it's puppy safe. :)

    Everything has pretty much been said, he's been taken from a situation where he was surrounded by other puppies to being on his own in a strange place, he will settle in in a few days.

    It's a bit early to start full on training yet but you can tell him "Shush" or "Quiet" in a grumpy voice when he cries.

    And gorgeous photo!
