    Chil tax credit
Help... I am a full time college student with one child, I had no income other than my grants and scholarships this year. I was told I could file and claim the child tax credit is this true? If so, how do I do this with no earned income?

In some cases, grants and scholarships are considered to be earned income if you are required to perform duties or work as a condition of getting the grant or scholarship. This makes the portion of the grant/scholarship that does not go towards tuition and fees taxable income.
