    Dead beat dad
So I have a four year old daughter with my ex boyfriend(27years old), we broke up when she was 1. He has deffinately gone down hill since we broke up, he has had 3 DUI's, has gotten 2 cars taken from him, including his license obviously. He goes to court ordered treatment which he admits he still does drugs and drinks. He owes my daughter $10,000 in child support which he also admits he has no intention on paying. When we originally went to court,we discussed what payment would be fair and what scheduled for him to take her would be fair, in return we both thought it would be fair that he got to claim her on his taxes every other year. He hasn't paid CS in a year, doesn't buy her clothes, hasn't gone by the set schedule for years. There has been times where I've had to give him food to feed her when she goes to visit him. He rarely calls and when he does, he is never able to make plans with her, sometimes she cries at night that she misses him, so I have her call him and he still won't make plans with her. He probably sees her about 1/week or 1/month, and when he does take her, I constantly worry who is taking care of her. Right after we broke up(when she was 1) he admitted to drinking and driving with her in the car. He had told me that he feels terrible about it and says he never drinks around her at all anymore. Obviously that didn't last, his family is just as bad. His parents killed a girl in a drinking and driving accident years ago, served there time and are still raging alcoholics, the mom has severe medical conditions with her liver. Bottom line is I don't want to wait till something bad happens to her to draw the line. HELP!!

This is really a legal issue so has been moved here from the Parenting forum.

The first thing I would recommend is to go back to court and request that all visitation be supervised. You can cite his many DUIs and the statements he has made about driving drunk with your daughter, etc.

At least this way you can protect your daughter.

You can then look into terminating his rights. It's a long shot, but given his record you may be able to get that done.
