Stalling 01 Honda Civic
Hello, I had a minor fender bender in June 09, had to get my own junk yard parts to fix it but was doing well until now, (but looking back this problem has been in the back of my mind since I bought the car) it idles and then stalls, this time it just idles high and then stalls in the middle of traffic and the engine light comes on. Took it too AutoZone, and the codes came back crank shaft ? Something... it happens whether the A/C is on and it has happened since I bought the Car in 04, rough idle but had not stalled until now... more now than ever and its annoying especially since I am almost broke from fixing it last time... PLEASE HELP,
The mechanics who fixed my car after my minor fender bender were great thinking of taking it back to them but do I tell them the error message from autozone, or let them diagnosis first so I know if that is the real problem!
Please Help! I have been reading the forums from other Honda owners and they seem to help!? Thank you!! :D:confused:

. What exact code was thrown?
. What Civic model and engine do you have? It looks like you do not have a distributor on your Civic. If you have a distributorless ignition system, as it appears you do, and the code indicates that the Crankshaft Position Sensor is bad, a replacement goes for around $90 at AutoZone. It's an easy job to replace this sensor.
. You may also want to replace the platinum spark plugs (NGK only), if they have not been replaced in the last 40,000 miles.
Spark plugs, coils, and Crankshaft Position Sensors account for most ignition-related problems on your generation of Honda.

The code it gave was P1361, intermittent interuption in TDC 1 sensor unit lists probable causes , and or P00336 CKP sensor unit lists possible/probable causes I have an 01 automatic honda civic ex 4 door. But the check engine light comes on?? Took it to honda to get some work done obviously the wanted to charge me to ceck this so I took it to autozone... I may have a friend of a friend who works at HONDA dealership, she told me to ask for him if I go only him maybe I can get the work done, or take it to my reg mechanic? I am just like the rest of america, full time adult student no job and hardly any cash looking to stretch it... THanks for the answers... I want to be prepared... I was thinking of purchasing US fideles that auto like coverage for repairs ? Maybe it will save me money...

I would be inclined to replace the Crankshaft Position Sensor, as I stated above, and see if that clears up both codes. It will run around $80, maybe less if you buy it online. Should be easy to install. After you replace it, use a code reader to reset the ECM and see if the Check Engine Light stays off.
RockAuto.com has a CKP, made by Standard (PC477), for $69.79. Standard products are often OEM parts, marketed in their own box.
