How to remove drywall adhesive from brick fireplace?
Last year, my contractor mistakenly covered the brick fireplace in the kitchen of my 1816 farmhouse in order to create a more colonial mantle. He left the job unfinished and we simply have drywall covering the bricks and a brick opening about 18 inches on all three sides.
My question now is how do I remove the drywall to restore the bricks? He used Liquid Nails to attach the drywall to the bricks. And secondly, how do I finish the drywall at the ceiling and brick wall once it is uncovered? Thank you for any advice! |

The bulk should come off with the heat gun method and the solvent might do most of the rest. You may have to sand blast with walnut shells to remove the remaining material.
