Where can I get married at the age of sixteen without parental consent?
I am sixteen and my grandmother is my legal gardian. She kicked me out in June and I had no where to go. I lived on the streets until I could get enough money to pay the rent on my apartment. When I got into my apartment, my fiancé moved in with me and we found out that I am pregnant, which is kind of bad when you have gardians like I do. My grandmother literally hates my fiancé and she doesn't want me to be with him. She has tried on many occasions to have me arrested as being a run away and my fiancé put in prison because he is nineteen and I am only sixteen. I don't know how we have made it this far but I really need to find out where I can get married at the age of sixteen without parental consent. I have heard that if I move to the state of Oklahoma and live there for eight weeks then I can get married there without parental consent... is that true?! Please let me know. It would be the easiest thing to do right now and that is what I am looking for... something legal but fast and easy. I need an answer as soon as possible. Please.

I am not up to par on my legal information but I believe that if you are pregnant you can get married without parental consent in most any state. Don't quote me on that though.

No, fortunately that is not true. Why the rush to get married?

Getting married is not going to solve any of your issues and introduce a whole set of new ones.

Let me see if I have your story correct. Please, fill in any gaps or holes:

    1) You are currently 16 years old.
    2) Your grandmother kicked you out in June. Why?
    3) You lived on the streets until you got enough money to rent an apartment. How long did that take?
    4) Someone rented you an apartment even though you are 16 years old and legally a minor.
    5) Your 19 year old boyfriend lives you. Is he the reason your grandmother kicked you out?
    6) You are now pregnant. How far along?
    7) Your grandmother hates your boyfriend.
    8) Your grandmother has called the police and they haven't done anything about a 16 year old girl living in her own apartment. Even with your grandmother saying that you are a runaway?
    9) They haven't charged your boyfriend with anything including contributing to the delinquency of a minor?
    10) You think that getting married will solve all of your problems-personal and legal.

    Big questions:

    Do you go to school?

    How are you supporting yourself?

How are you going to get medical care through the pregnancy and after the baby is born?

If you get married are you planning to keep the baby?

Why do you think that marriage will solve anything?

Are you trying to use marriage as a way to become emancipated without going through the court system?
