    First : you put your two questions as a answer to someone else's question, you may never get a better answer that way. I have moved it.

    The exact rules of service in your area will make the big difference, but in "general" they will do service by merely putting it on your door of last residence and/or by posting it in the newspaper. Then they have a court case without you even showing up to defend yourself, So they will basically win everything they are asking for.
