    Heater won't ignite
I have a Rudd self contained heating and air conditioning heater.
When I call for heat the electronic ignition does not ignite the burner tubes.
I smell gas then everything shuts down.
    What do I do?

While I am not familiar with the Rudd furnace, I'd take a look at the "hot surface ignitor". This part should be easy to test and replace. Get it at a local appliance parts dealer.

    Best of luck,

WallyHelps is correct. You should see a glow around the burner area when the unit is trying to light. If you do not see that glow it is a good possibility the ignitor is defective. TIP: Do not touch the black/grey area of the ignitor with your fingers. The body oils damage the ignitor especially if you are replacing with a new one.
