    Pus Under thumb nail
Last year aorund the same time I saw what looks like pus under my nail. I didn't injure it, it was just there. As my nail grew out and the spot got to where I could see it under my nail, it turned black. It eventually grew out. But I have it back again, only this time it is larger and it's at the bed of my nail and more discolored than last time. It feels like a bruise, kind of tender. Is there any thing I can do without taking medicine.

It sounds like you have an ingrown nail which means that you have a piece of your nail that is growing into your skin. When that happens pus starts to build up. You will have to go a doctor to have him cut it out. Don't try to do it yourself because it will get infected. Also a doctor will be able to tell you exactly what it is.

Doc will most likely relieve the pressure by using essentially a hot pin to puncture the nail. Doesn't hurt.

In fact, I do it myself when I hit my nail, but I don't recommend it here. The reccurance bothers me.
