    New thermostat
    I am hooking up a new thermostat and I have a red white and 2 green wires . What are the 2 green wires for?

    I have no idea what the green wires are for in your situation. Many times one Green wire will be used to control the blower motor circuit but in your case you have two so all bets are off.

    I suggest you trace down all the wires and see exactly where they go on the unit itself. Since you have two green wires you will have to sound those out and mark one of them a different color on both ends. Then with that done you can use your wiring diagram that came with your new thermostat to hook it all up.

    Usual color code is W=White,R=Red,Y=Yellow and G=Green. This is a standard base color code.
