Hunter Fan turns on by itself
I recently had a Hunter ceiling fan installed, to replace another one, a Harbor Breeze which was a lemon. It has a remote control no chains. What concerns me is that I come home from work and the fan is going at fast speed - today - Saturday - like a ghost, it started again. What in heavens could be the matter. Not quite sure where to do next - Did have Master Electrician install - -

Use the dip switches in the remote and receiver to change frequencies. Someone nearby is probably operating on the same frequency.

"Use the dip switches in the remote and receiver to change frequencies. Someone nearby is probably operating on the same frequency." but I changed it and it still happens. I have 2 of these fans one is fine (thank goodness because it in the room with motion sensors for the alarm system) the other keeps turning on the light or fan randomly like in the middle of the night which wakes me up

How many different settings have you tried? THat is the only known solution to this problem and it usually works.

I got up on that ladder and took the fan down 4 sperate times and changed the code. I read somewhere else that someone had replaced the remote with a universal and they never had the issue again but I would think it was the unit INSIDE the fan that's the issue. I have changed it once more , hopefully this one works.

Power spikes and fluctuations can trip a remote. Ask you power company if there has been any work on your location or neighborhood, or any failures.

If you can't resolve it on your own, contact Hunter Fan Ceiling Fans, Air Purifiers, Humidifiers, Thermostats perhaps they can send you a remote/receiver with a different frequency set.

This happens to my Hunter fan as well, I will turn on my light, (not the fan) and some minutes later the fan will just... start. It happens at different speeds, sometimes full-blast, sometimes the lowest setting. Very weird! I had it installed in a brand new house, by a professional, so I can't fault either the work or my electrical supply (I hope!) Glad to see I'm not the only one who's experiencing this issue. So I guess my house is not haunted after all? Well, that's a good thing...

The same thing is happening with my Hunter Westbury model # 20347. OP, have you figured out a way to fix the fan so it doesn't randomly turn on/off? I hate the lights turning on in the middle of the night! Also, where is the receiver located within the fan? I'd like to try changing the DIP switch settings, but I can't tell where the receiver is located. Is it in the hangar bracket assembly or the switch housing assembly? The diagram included in the manual doesn't really help...

I don't have an answer, but have the same problem with the fan, I've misplaced the paperwork, and don't know how to change the frequencies ?

Ours does this too. The only problem with these suggestions is ours is 18 ft off the ground; the electrician had to use a very big step ladder to install it. I don't have anything big enough to get close to the fan housing! Our solution is turn the switch off! Not the best solution but 100% effective. Same problem with changing fan direction! Solution: we don't! :-)
