Toilet will not flush but does not overflow
My toilet will not flush but does not over flow, I have ran a 25ft snake and no help. The toilet barly flushed with just water and urine in it, but if I put like 3 squares of TP in it, it will not come close to flushing. I dumped a 5 gallon bucket of water in it and it flushes good. I I installed new componets in the tank to allow more water to flush and it work for a few days. I have cleaned all the holes around the rim of the toilet etc. I just have a hard time getting an actual plumber to look at it because I have been screwed so many times and don't want to be ripped off and lied to and pay them 500 dollars for something I may be able to snap my fingers to and fix it. My next step was going to buy a new toilet. The home is a new home built 2 years ago and this is the only toilet in the home doing it. Thanks for any help.

It is just low enough not to pour out of the handle lol... about 3 inches from the top... I put it that high because I was told that I was not getting enough water in the bowel to flush

Yes it did flush correctly when we bought the house 2 years ago.. yes the toilet will flush just water if you hold the handle down but it takes forever, but if you have the slightest piece of toilet paper in it like 3 to 5 squares it will not..

And you have checked the jet? Look down at the bottom of the bowl. If there is a small hole, then that is a jet that starts the syphon action. If it's clogged the water will just swirl around and slowly go down leaving solids behind. Take your finger,(UGH! ) and run it around the inside of the opening. Over the years minerals build up and cut down on the syphon (flush) action. If it is rough or you feel build up, take a table knife and put a bend in it to get around the curve in the bowl and chip and scrap it clear. Next take a coathanger and clear out the holes around the rim. They start the swirling action. And last, check the water level in the tank. It should be 1/2" below the top of the over flow tube. Good luck, Tom

Thanks Tom for the advice but this particular toilet does not have a jet in it. But the holes around the rim of the toilet have been cleaned (from previous adivce) and I have even taped up the holes and poured vinegar in the holding tank (previous advice.) It is a 1.6 gal briggs I guess it is a standard in new homes these days. With it flushing just water means I don't have a clog in any lines right? If it is just a crappy toilet (no pun intended) I have no problem buying a new toilet. All I know is the wife is on my last nerve about it. Thanks for all yalls help.

Lotsa problems with the older 1.6 gallon flush toilets. You have a "wash down" bowl. You might want to consider replacing it with a newer jet type. Good luck, Tomk
