Honda Civic 91 main relay and Ignition Coil
I am new and by luck I found this question/answer website, I have a Honda Civic 91, and have similar problems with starting, there is no spark, my first question is how to test the Ignition Coil, there are two terminals +(pos) and -(neg) and the metal body, I measured between the + and - and got 0.5 Ohms, between (+) and the body shell I got in Mega Ohms which I believe it should be in the Kilo Ohms in resistance and similar reading with the (- )side, is the metal body considered as the tower (hi voltage) like in a conventional coil? part of the plastic enclosure burnt, it becomes brittle. I strongly suspect the problem is this ignition coil, so far I replaced the gas tank, fuel pump, Igniter,

My second question is where exactly is the main relay located? Is it near the fuse panel under the dash?driver side, or behind the wiring harnes?the Haines manual doesn't show about this main relay. I might have missed this posting in this regard.

I appreciate any comment and advice.

Bench testing ignitors and coils is virtually useless. It does not simulate the heat that often causes these components to fail. I recommend replacing these critical and problematic components every 120,000 miles or 10 years, whichever comes first.

The main relay is located just above fuse box. Turning the ignition switch on and off while help you locate it, by hearing and feeling it click.

Thank you very much, I will replace the ignition coil and find that main relay and test.
