    Double kitchen sink clogging?
    Hello,

My wife and I just bought our first home this past week. The only issue we have had come up with the house is cloggin in the double kitchen sink. This never came up in our home owner inspection. I can run the water in both sides of the sink for 5 minutes and it not clog up. We don't have a dishwasher so we plug one side and fill it up. When we unplug it, it won't drain properly. It will go through to the other sink and then eventually very slowly drain out. We have taken apart the piping underneath and checked it all and no clogs or anything. Kitchen was re-done so all new sink and plumbing. The piping runs to the wall instead of down through the bottom. We have snaked it and used drano to see if it could have been grease and other stuff to have settled since the house hasn't been lived in for about a year. My mom's boyfriend said that it could not be vented properly. I have looked at diagrams and venting on here and know that there is not vent for this sink. Any ideas on why it clogs when we plug one side to do dishes but will not if we are just letting the water run in either side?

    Hey Don,
There should be a roof vent just above the kitchen area. If you see one that's the kitchen vent. Your Moms squeeze is on to something. If you can run water foe 5 minutes with no problems and then get air locked trying to drain a full tub then it sounds like the vent's clogged. If you like we can walk you through the process of snaking the vent if you wish. Just let us know. Regards, Tom

Yeah anything at this point. It clogged again doing dishes and it very slowly drains now. Can't get any water to run through just fine now. I can see what looks like a vent that leads to the roof. It is a pipe that comes from the out of the wall then up the ceiling that looks like it was plastered and painted over. Don't see where it comes from when looking underneath sink or cabinets though. Let me know guys. Thanks.

Go up in the attic and locate the kitchen vent. That's where your going to hafta snake from. Put out enough snake to reach the base and 18 feet more. Good luck, Tom
