    Can someone tell me when I need to intall a GFI? I'm looking for the code. For instance, do I only need to install if less than 4 feet from ythe water source.

    Water source is not mentioned in the code. Thing is most of the areas that require GFIs are potential wet areas.

    Here is a history.
    Keep in mind that within 6' of a laundry sink has been added and most all exceptions for garages unfinished basements have been removed.
