Saw the film when I was very young, and have been searching for ages w/ no luck as to what it was.

I can remember a few scenes from it:

1- there´s a magical spider in it
2- a snowball fight where a child puts a rock in the snow and throws it at the main character
3- a monster on a mountain that is caged up; there´s a scene where there´s a snow storm w/ the caged monster that sticks out
4- a cat dies at some stage
