    Vectors and projectiles
    Esther dives off the 3-m springboard and initially bounces up with a velocity of 8.0 m/s at an agle of 80 degrees to the horizontal. What are the horizontal and vertical components of her velocity?

    Draw a right triangle to represent the situation.
    The hypotenuse is 8.0 m/s
    The angle at the bottom is 80 degrees
    Now use basic trigonometry to solve for the vertical and horizontal components.

    Vertical component = 8 x sin 80

    while horizontal component = 8 x cos 80
