    Is she a scammer?
I recently started communicating with a woman in the Philippines. Things seemed to be going OK as we slowly got to know each other. Until yesterday when the subject of money cropped up, and sure enough she asked me to send her some, to supposedly help with her child's education. Of course I immediately became suspicious as I have read about scammers operating in many countries. I have not sent any money and would never do so. Is this the work of a scammer? I'm inclined to believe it is, wishing however that it was not.

I would bet that yes, it is. One way to test it, refuse to send her money and see how she reacts and how much longer she continues to communicate with you. Think of it as if this were a friend you actually saw on a daily basis. They wouldn't stop talking to you simply because for whatever reason you didn't lend them money.

Folahun. Thank you very much for replying and for your advice. I really appreciate you taking the time to write. I have become aware of people from many countries involved in such scams. There are thousands who, thankfully have been exposed on some web sites. These are wretched people with no conscience or feelings for those they seek to take advantage of. Certainly, some of the dating sites are also to blame for failing to sift out these scammers. Yes, lucky not to be a victim. It is easy to see how ( maybe vulnerable )people fall victim though. Have definitely learnt to be more guarded with people on the net. A situation brought about by scammers. Thanks again...
