Over head tank height and pressure
    Dear sir,
We have a plot of land 2 acare consisting of 40 houses. I want to build a water tank for distribution of water to all hoses. Can anyone suggest the height at which the tank to be placed for distribution with good pressure. Also suggest what pressure is best suitable.
Note - Tank capacity is 58,000ltrs.
    Suggestion will be appreciated.
    Thanks

Tanks are frequently placed 100' feet up as that provides about 40# of pressure. Figure about .4# per foot of elevation. When Speedball comes on, he can give you the exact figure.

You sound ambitious. That much water will weigh over 50 tons.

That Exact figure is .434 so a 100 foot water tower would give you 43.4 PSI at the base. (Most city water towers are 100 feet high). If you don't wish to build your water tower that high a booster pump and bladder tank can be installed on the discharge side of the tank. Most house pressures will run between 40 and 60 PSI with the average at 45 PSI Good luck, Tom
