    John Deere LT166 replace starter
The starter died on my LT166 tractor. I'm trying to get it out but cannot access the two bolts that attach it to the motor. I got one out, but the other is behind the starter and I can't get at it. Do I have to remove the flywheel? Is there some special tool that I need?

    Hi,
Generally 1/2" or 13mm short socket and an extension attached to a ratchet works. Many also have a T30 or T35 torx feature in the center that can be used as an alternate method.

John Deere L118 starter [ 3 Answers ]

Have a John Deere L118 with a Briggs and Stratton engine. Starter turns but won't engage engine, sort of like an old car with a flat spot on the flywheel. Is there an adjustment on these starters? It's three years old with about 115 hours on it.
