What should I do to get my ex back?
I was in a relationship for almost five years. Me and my ex had a mutual friend for 2yrs that I was in love with. I cheated on my ex with her. I broke up with my ex to be with her. At first things were rocky because of my ex giving me a hard time so she broke up with me. I was heart broken... One day she calls me saying that she misses me and she wanted to see me, so we met up with one another. I went to give her a kiss on the cheek and she turned her face and gave me a kiss. We were still just friends, eventually as time passed we were hanging out still acting like friends and I asked her again to be my girlfriend, she said yes. Things went really well for 2 months we were inseparable... She then says to me that she has proposition for me and says that she needed time for herself and wants to get know herself better. I acted like if everything was OK. I said to her fine if that's what you want so be it. Its been a couple of days since we spoken and I miss her and I want her back. What should I do?

Karma man... sucks doesn't it.
You need to let her be, period. I am not going to judge your behavior in the situation that led up to this eventual relationship, but when a girl says something like that to you, walk away with dignity and class and figure out what it is that makes you a better person for it.

Had to spread the rep, but very well said.

She asked for time and space, so respect her wishes and give it to her.
Do your own thing while you wait for her to contact you.

Was this the 5yr relationship or the 2month one? I don't think this would really affect my answer. You can't really do anything to change the way she feels right now. She already knows you wish to be with her. You can't do much more. Give her space and time. If it was meant to be things will change. You must know the history in both these relationships have the work cheating in them. One you cheated on, and one you cheated with. Not so solid ground here.

What if the poster doesn't give her the space and still tries to hang on to the girl? What is bad about this?

Sounds to me like she's had a change of heart and maybe doesn't want to be with someone who'd cheat on his GF.
Hope you learned a lesson and realise the grass is not always greener on the other side.
As KC said , karma sucks!

You know, people keep saying this. But I still am confused on this point. If somebody doesn't give another the space, it will push the girl further away. What is the logic behind this?

If someone wants space from you and you keep being in their face they see it as you pestering them when they've asked you to leave them alone.
Hence they will validate to themselves that they made the right decision to not be with you and pull further away.

The only way to get an ex back, is if they come back.
Leave her alone and get yourself in check.
