    Leaky Kohler fauct
My daughter purchased a Kohler faucet a few months ago. Recently it has begun to leak. My son in law said the little red washer inside the turn off and on part is broken and he doesn't know why. He thinks it could have been damaged by applying too much force to the part. Is that possible? The washer is a piece of plastic and seems to me to be very breakable.

Years ago I remember having a VCR that regularly had a broken part that needed replacing. It was the only plastic part in this early VCR, thus highly damagable I was told. It would be a constant problem because of that. Is that the case here? What I want to know, I guess, is this going to be an on going problem? If this is not so, then why has has caused the washer to break after only having for 2 or 3 months?

Thank you for your time and attention.

Need more info, is this a kitchen/lavetory sink or tub/shower faucet?

Can you tell us the model number?

Where is the little red washer installed and where is the faucet leaking from?

I don't have the model number. This is a kitchen faucet. It has that graceful curve that Kohler is famous for. You can remove the nozzle and spray dishes. The on/off part is on the left and you lift it up to turn it on and press down to turn it off. My son in law seems to think that someone was too hard on this part. This is where the little red washer is that broke and this is where it has been leaking. The red washer is inside this part of the faucet. My son in law is getting the washer. I just want to know if this is a flaw in the faucet and if it will break frequently. It's made of plastic. I can go to Kohler's web site and look up the model number if you need it. Thanks for responding.

Open the link below and see if this is your faucet, I believe your son in law is correct may be it got damaged during installation I don't see any thing wrong with the faucet just change that washer and see what happens, Thanks.

I think that's it. My son in law thinks someone using the faucet damaged it. Is that possible?

Like john sez, "Any thing is possible". While it's possible the probabilities are way out there. How can you damage a faucet by turning it off and on?
Never! In the 50 plus years I've been doing plumbing. Regards, Tom
