    Install Stove Plug
    I have 3 wires for my stove plug and the new outlet has 4 connectors. Can anyone help me with this?

    What colors are the stove wire? There a Wire missing, my guess likely the ground is not attached or cut off.

    With the new outlet, the 4 terminal screws are for ground (bare copper wire) Neutral ( white color wire) and the 2 hot (red and black wire)

    Need to know what color wires you have for the stove plug

    The NEC now require 4 wire outlets for stoves and dryers. Your older stove will need a new plug that separates the neutral (white) and ground (green).

    Older stoves combine the ground/neutral. That's how they get 120 for lights and timers. The elements are 240.

    The instructions on the stove should tell you how to wire the new plug which you can get from a hardware store or big-box store. You'll probably have to remove a jumper as well to separate the neutral and ground.
