    Is an apartment tenant responsile for fire damages?
    Is a tenant responsible for damages to the dwelling in an apartment kitchen fire causing minor damage?

    My sister-in-law had a small grease fire where she was at fault. She has no fire insurance but the apartment complex has fire insurance covering the damage.

    If they caused the fire, yes they are liable, the apartment company insurance may pay for it but the insurance commpany will or could sue them for repayment.
    Also most likely there was a 1000 or 5000 dollar deductable that the apartment complex
